Well this week I did some more research on fluency disorders. Doing this research helped me to figure out which search engines were the best for me and also which ones displayed the most hits. I also
learned which sites displayed the most accurate hits. Another thing that I learned during the researching process is what key words to use when searching to find what I want to find.

The assignments this week also helped me to think more about the topic that I picked. The homework assignments made me think more deeply about my topic and come up with foundation questions which I thought was a very good idea because it made be go beyond the essential question and think more in depth.

Overall, I feel that I've learned more about researching this week as well as more about my topic of fluency disorders. I hope to keep learning more and more in the weeks to come. Which I'm sure that I will since Mrs. McComas is our teacher.

My essential question for last week was:

"What exactly happens when an interruption in speech is made? Is it neurologically connected? Cognitively connected? How can a person have no control over stuttering?"

Based on this my foundation questions would be:

What is impaired that causes dysfluency in speech?

Can whatever that is impaired be fixed? If so, how can it be fixed?

What causes the person to have no control over their dysfluency?

When I think about myself as a learner I automatically think about school. Teachers play a big role in how I learn. If the teacher is a good lecturer I usually learn a lot and don't have to spend as much time reading the book. However, if the teacher isn't good at lecturing I rely heavily on the book. I find barriers though whenever I go to read a textbook. For some reason I find reading textbooks to be the most boring thing ever and I hate to do it. I never learn much from reading because no matter how many times I read the same text over and over it seems like I never remember what I just read. I do get excited though when I really understand a concept that I had difficulty with grasping. I am also a very visual person and learn more by seeing things. The more illustrations I have the more I understand. I'm also a hands on person and learn a lot that way too.
